MOUNTAIN GOATS

“My mountain goat hunt was the second time that I was able to join Robson Valley Outfitters. Previously was a trapline adventure. I made this trip back to Robson Valley in September of 2024. Prior to my arrival Daniel and his team had spent time scouting multiple areas to help provide us any advantage possible over these elusive animals. For anyone that does not know, like I did prior to arriving, goat hunting begins where sheep hunting ends. This became evident to me as the days unfolded. My guide was Scott Keim who is a local to that area and has worked with Daniel and Ashley for a very long time. Scott is very knowledgeable about this area and an extremely nice guy. I could not have wished for a better guide or for that matter a better person. I could not have scripted what transpired over my days of hunting, but ultimately we found a nice billy that we were able to shoot at less than 75 yards. Over a time period of about 7 days Scott and I would ultimately walk between 30 - 35 miles, lose 10 pounds of body weight, climb from 3,00 to 7,500 in elevation (multiple times), walk on glaciers, scale up rock cliffs, forced to wear crampons in order to safely descend the 60 - 70 degree shale slides, explore hidden lakes, send 4’ diameter boulders down hills, sun bathe and cross rivers. All of these escapades were woven together to create mine and Scott’s adventurous goat hunt. I could only do justice to our story through a table of contents and multiple chapters!!
